Term 3 Newsletter 2019
Welcome to Term 3 at Panache! What a year it has been so far. A wonderful concert and classes are filling with some at capacity. After such a busy term 2 we are now focusing on our senior Cecchetti examinations in September. We wish those students the best of luck!
What a performance it was! The feedback has been amazing so a huge thank you to those who have provided this. Well done to all the performers, each and everyone of you did me proud. I would like to thank everyone of offered to help me with costumes, headpieces and volunteering backstage. A big thank to all the parents for their extra support getting children to and from rehearsals and ready for the day. Also, a big thank you to our amazing teachers. Thank you!
Drop off and pick up
I would like to remind parents that we require you to come to the relative studios to collect younger students, especially with darker evenings. This allows teachers to ensure the students are safely collected and not waiting out on the street as is our duty of care. It also gives us an opportunity to pass on any important information directly to you to avoid miscommunication. We understand that time is tight especially after school, but the safety of our students is more important.
Many classes are now fortunately at capacity with some gaining a waitlist. If you know of anyone not returning this term please get them to email or contact me ASAP so I am able to open that spot to others.
The annual Cecchetti conference was held in Christchurch New Zealand this year. This was the 1st time the conference had headed over to our neighbours. Miss Kay was able to get over to the conference and was excited with the amazing presenters and demonstrations shown. She is very excited to share with students and other teachers what she learnt.
Congratulations to our Grade 4 students who took their examination in May. All successfully passed with excellent results.
Selected senior students have been notified & entries have been submitted for the senior exam session held in September. It is standard that all grade and major students must be attending 2 classical classes per week to be considered for selection to enter examinations. A third weekly class may be called closer to exam time. If you have any queries please see your teacher.
We wish all selected students best wishes as they strive to attain the technique, strength, stamina, grace & dance quality that is required for success in examinations.
Unfortunately, we continue to have many families with fees still outstanding for this year. While we appreciate that the economic situation is not easy, we still have expenses that must be paid, not the least of which is the wages of our teachers. It places a huge strain on us if there is so much money outstanding, so please ensure that all fees are paid by the due date.
We understand that some students come to class straight from school or following other activities, but it has come to our attention that some students are attending class without any consideration to the grooming requirements of a dance school. If the correct uniform cannot be worn to class, then the student must be neatly and appropriately attired. Correct dance wear is specifically designed for the dance student, just as football or netball gear is designed for those activities.
Girls' hair must be worn up, and away from the face (in a bun for all Classical classes), unless the hair is too short, in which case the student should wear a headband to keep the hair out of her eyes. This is not only to encourage good grooming and to take pride in their appearance, but also for their personal comfort. It only takes a couple of minutes to put hair up.
We are so fortunate to be partnered with MDM Dancewear to stock their amazing ballet flats, jazz shoes and tights. This makes dance wear shopping for our students and parents so much easier. Please do not forget to contact myself to organise your fitting.
Don't forget our Panache t-shirt and jacket orders are only done twice a year. Our next and LAST order for the year will be due at the end of term 3. So please get your orders in to ensure students have their uniform required for the end of year performance. Reminder that t-shirts (pink for females and navy for males) and uniform and tanks are optional extras for class wear.

Social media & Communication.
To stay up to date with real-time information don't forget to like our Facebook Page. This is a wonderful way for any last-minute information.
I endeavour to update the 'News' section of our website regularly with notices, information, dates for the term etc. This is a fabulous go-to place if you misplace important notices.
I understand that we can be inundated with emails and communication. Without being able to see each and every family at each class our best method of communication is via email, Facebook and our website. This ensures that all communication is at the touch of a button. Please ensure you read our newsletters and notices carefully to ensure you do not miss anything important. This reduces miscommunication and ensures everyone know extra activities, times and dates. If you have changed any email, postal address or phone number could you please let me know so I can update our system.
As you are well aware, I am heading off on a short maternity leave half way through this term. To keep you up to date with teachers I would like to announce that Ashleigh Killin will be taking over my Thursday evenings, Friday mornings and Saturdays for the remainder of the year. Ashleigh joins us from Jay school of Dance where she is currently working towards her Associate qualifications next year. She has had several years of Cecchetti teaching experience and is very excited for this opportunity. Please ensure you make Ashleigh feel welcome. I will be returning to Friday mornings and Saturday morning classes (Kinderdance and Baby Boppers) in Term 4. Miss Amy will be taking my Tuesday evening classes. I will still be working from home but obviously with a new born I will endeavour to return emails as soon as I can.
I would also like to welcome Peter Anderson Jnr to our team. Peter joins us as our new Musical Theatre teacher. Peter is so excited to join our team and has already proved how diverse his style is. I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing what he can do. HUGE welcome to Peter.
Miss Dani and team!
